Victory Kid braids punk, ska, and rock to produce music that is vibrant and playful, rowdyand rebellious, unflinching in its emotional range and full-throated political firebrand. Victory Kid was founded by Harrison Nida and Carlo Ribaux in 2016.
Born on the shores of West Los Angeles, Nida and Ribaux created the band between surf sessions: Waves in the morning, practice in the afternoon, and fish tacos at nightbecame a weekly routine for the band in its fledgling years, when they played local venues like Whisky a Go Go, The Hi Hat, Hotel Cafe, and many more. In 2017 they recorded their debut album, Discernation, with sonic genius Allan Hessler and elevated their sound with horns brought in by Matt Appleton.
Inspired by the rowdy hooks of Sum 41, the skankable grooves of Sublime and the sarcastic bite of Blink-182 with the brass-kissed chaos of Goldfinger, Victory Kid charts their own path by coupling uplifting, energizing, high-octane music with lyrics that brim with emotional heft, and political criticism.
